BEVERLEY COOKE-TONNESEN has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, a Higher Diploma in Education and a post graduate Honours Degree in Speech and Drama, Cum Laude, from The University of Natal, Durban.  She has worked professionally in the SA theatre and television industry as an actress, writer, director and producer. In 1994, Beverley started her own educational theatre company “Hooked on Books”, which she sold nine years later. In 2002 she moved to the USA to help start up the prestigious Marin School of the Arts, where she was appointed director of Drama and Musical Theatre. For three consecutive years she was listed in the annual publication ‘Who’s Who – The Top 1% of America’s most Inspirational Teachers’. For her acting roles in San Francisco, she also received accolades and awards; such as her role as Carol in David Mamet’s “Oleanna”. Since returning to SA, in 2005, Beverley has taught in the Drama department at WITS University and held the position of HOD of Drama at Beaulieu College and Reddam House College, in Johannesburg.

Now based in Durban, Beverley  consults as a communications expert, trainer, writer and director. Although no longer a full-time school teacher, Beverley retains her passion for education and working with youth. She is an academic coach, providing tutelage and inspiration for private students, as well as conducting small group workshops.
